A Message From Ms. Braxton
As a Family Involvement Consultant, I have worked with
child welfare agencies and family partners across the
country to improve child welfare outcomes for child
welfare involvement families. My work with state child
welfare agencies is guided by the principles of Systems of
Care as a way to promote safety, permanency, and
well-being for children and families involved with, or at risk
of becoming involved with the child welfare system. I work
with local and state child welfare systems to establish and
support meaningful family involvement throughout the
child welfare system through persistent and mutually
respectful engagement of families in systems
improvement activities at the frontline, with managers and
supervisors, and through policy and legislation. I work
with state and county child welfare systems to create
collaborative partnerships among diverse groups of
parents and caregivers (birth, foster, adoptive parents
and kin caregivers) as well as between these family
members and agency service providers (child welfare, law
enforcement, domestic violence, substance abuse
treatment, and courts) to sustain these collaborative
partnerships over time.
When a social worker sits down at the table to discuss the
outcome of you and your child's life,
I am paving the way for the parent/parents to be there.
